Red-Flowered Salvia – (Salvia coccinea)

Beautiful, 3’ tall Salvia – once you plant this, you will have it always as it readily self seeds – sometime wintering over as well.
Draws hummingbirds and butterflies.  Likes sun and a well-drained soil.  Flowers from early summer until hard frost.

Surprise Lilies, August Lilies, Naked Ladies, Hurricane Lilies – (Lycoris squamigera)

Distinctive strap-like foliage in early Spring that dies down in early June.  Flowers emerge on leafless, knee-high scapes in
August – pink, dramatic.  Our plants are blooming size.  Clumps multiply over time and can be divided periodically.

TREES/SHRUBS

American Hazelnut – (Corylus Americana)

Native Eastern North American shrub to 10’, Suckers to form a colony.  Important wildlife food – also edible for people.  Immune
to Eastern Filbert blight.  Zones 5-9.

Bald Cypress – (Taxodium distichum)

Good yard tree on the South side of the house as there is very little twig mass in the winter.  Very little clean up in the fall.
Native tree to 80’ tall.  Tolerates wet conditions but does not require it.

Camellia sasanqua (hybrids)

Fall blooming camellias, seed grown.  Would benefit by sheltered microclimate and partial shade.

Camellia, Oil-Seed – (Camellia oleifera)

Hardiest Camellia – flowers in November/December, matures at 8-10’ fall with small white flowers which continue to open blooms
even after a hard freeze (25º).

Dwarf Red Buckeye – (Aesculus pavia)

Native shrub to small tree to 15 feet +/-.  Bright red flowers in April/May.  Striking in the landscape.  Pretty much trouble free.
Nuts are eaten by wildlife.  Zones 5-8.

Eastern Red Cedar – (Juniperus virginiana)

Native evergreen tree.  Performs well on poor soil and is drought tolerant once established.

Korean Plum Yew – (Cephalotaxus harringtonia v. drupacea)

Yew like evergreen foliage with larger needles – deer ignore it!  In October purple 1 ½” fruit with largish edible seed – fruit
tastes like a plum dipped in pine sap.  Very drought resistant!  Will live in fairly dark shade but is slow, grows best in full to half-day
sun – 10’ after 20 years.

Needle Palm – (Rhapidophyllum histrix)

Hardiest palm in the world (to -12ºF).  10 feet after 20 years.

Crimson Giant Barberry – (Berberis thunbergii ‘Crimson Giant’)

Red-leafed barberry 7-8 feet+ tall with bright yellow, showy flowers.  Full sun for best color.

Red-Leaf Japanese Maples – (Acer palmatum)

All our Maples are seed grown and on their own roots – the parent tree was a small 15-20’ tree.  Leaves will be red in full sun.
Excellent fall color.

Tree Peonies – (Paeonia ostii)

Very early bloom season – we offer own rooted seed grown plants – currently 5 and 8 years old – blooming size – eventually
each plant can make a 5-6 foot very long-lived shrub which does not die to the ground each year as Herbaceous peonies do.  The
5-6” flowers are fragrant, usually white, occasionally opening pink and fading to white.  In Chinese medicine known as Feng Dan Bai
or dan pi.
